Guerrier was later named player of the game, as he made two free throws, spent 40 minutes in the game, and had a final point total of 13. The Jaguars beat the Gladiators 52-40 at the Nov. 30 game.

Communications senior Sasha Monaco is a third-year member of The Muse. She is excited to represent Dreyfoos’ diversity as an assistant managing editor. She has been competing in speech and debate since middle school and now competes on the Dreyfoos Speech and Debate Team. She plans to study law in college. Oung (right) waits in between competition rounds with her opponents at the CBI speech and debate tournament on the last day of camp. Oung performed her piece in four preliminary rounds and ultimately made it to the final round, which consisted of only six speakers. Throughout the camp, as well as the tournament, Oung crafted both a new piece and several new friendships. “I met so many people at camp on the speech and debate circuit that I’m excited to see in the upcoming school year at tournaments,” Oung said. “Camp is such a good place to make long-lasting friendships with both my fellow debaters and mentors, especially since we made so many memories together in two weeks.”

Bole has been competing on the Dreyfoos Speech and Debate Team since his freshman year, and took this opportunity to showcase his work to the audience. “As soon as the final ‘thank-you’s’ were being given, I came to realize how important the work that was put into the show truly was,” Bole said.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida was invaded by an armed former student on Feb.14th. The shooter, who is now in custody, took the lives of 17 students and staff members. Following the tragedy, many people have taken to social media to advocate for strict gun laws and heightened security in schools.
