I just love and cherish the memories I've had with all of my teammates."

[BRIEF] Boys Volleyball Hosts Senior Night

The boys volleyball team celebrates its graduating seniors

As parents, friends, and classmates filed through the gym and made their way onto the bleachers, the boys volleyball team stepped on court for their final game of the regular season: senior night. For the seniors, the evening marked the result of the many hours of practice they put in throughout the season and their previous years on the team.

Decorations and posters filled the stands as loved ones honored the graduating players before the opening serve. Cheers echoed through the gym as each senior was recognized for their contributions to the team: Gavin Popilek (middle), Alexander Matos (setter), Eric Jimenez (opposite), Andrew Hopta (middle), Jack Meller (defense), and Beau McDowell (captain).

“It feels extremely emotional for me to be a senior leaving this team,” McDowell said. “Overall, although I won’t be playing on this court again with these guys, I know that the impact they’ve had on me will last a lifetime and there are so many amazing young men on this team that will change the world.”

The team capped off the night with a 3-1 victory against Palm Beach Gardens High School, marking two years of undefeated home games. As the district tournament approaches April 21, the team now shifts its focus toward extending the season.
