Swim Team Anticipates Successful Year

The boys and girls swim and dive team will participate in workshops this summer to assist the incoming members in preparation for the 2014 fall season in August. Girls co-captains, visual senior Camila Gonzales and strings senior Fabiola Plaza have a vision set for their team.

“[Gonzalez] and I plan on setting up different workshops toward the end of the summer to help those on the team with their technique,” Plaza said. “We hope to cover different techniques such as flip turns, dives and the essential form of each stroke.”

The captains are anticipating a more unified level of fitness on the team after these workshops; one that will aid them to obtain new record times. They also hope to unify the team through close-knit activities.

“We plan on doing some team bonding get-togethers that will strengthen us as a team,” boys co-captain and communications senior Michael Rahrig said. “We will be doing some pre-school workouts and conditioning to help us get a running start into the 2014-15 school year.”

Building a strong bond amongst the team members is imperative for success. The more experienced members of the team will implement a teaching system where the team splits up into groups, and they each teach special technique to the incoming swimmers.

“We plan on doing more [dry land workouts], bringing the team together and building stronger friendships,” Gonzalez said.
