The Dreyfoos Jaguars’ basketball team is starting to gain momentum after a three game win streak. On Friday, Dec. 9 the Jaguars had a dominant win over Sheridan Hills Christian School, winning 71- 30. The Jaguars are now undefeated at home with a 3-0 record which has been in a large part due to strings junior Amare Davis who led the team with 17 points. Other star performers included digital media freshman Caleb Holzhauer, who had three 3 pointers off of the bench.
“It felt great. I usually don’t get in the game to score, it’s just awesome,” Holzhauer said. “[I would like to work on] my defense and a little bit of passing. I think we played great defense and [had good] teamwork. I thought we were going to win and we did.”
The scoring differential was 41 in favor of Dreyfoos, and they executed well on offense by sharing the ball with precise passing which resulted in 13 of the 14 players scoring. The team also performed very well on defense with superb efforts from visual junior Matthew George.
“I think we played a really good game and I think we ran well, passed well, defended well, rebounded well, and I thought we took care of business,” basketball coach and social studies teacher Jeffrey Stohr said. “I thought our running game was very impressive. We ran the floor well, we spread the floor well, and got a lot of layups.”

Shane please let everyone know that we circulated a petition ( informally) that was signed by dozens of enthusiastist students and family as well as faculty at the game on 12/14/16 to replace the 4 year old basketball uniforms that the team is utilizing. We are not second rate so we should not represent our school as such, the young men work to hard; perform admirably and sacrifice time and effort to travel three counties to compete for Dreyfoos. Uniforms are not to much to ask for! The petition was given to the new athletic director, let him know we will not let up on this issue!
