On Feb. 18, the piano department featured four students in its second Klavier performance of the year, “Mystical Magical Music.” The magic-themed recital was held at 6 p.m. in the Brandt Black Box Theater.

“There were more people than I expected and everything went very smoothly,” piano junior Claire Zhao said.

Some pieces included were “The Graceful Ghost Rag,” performed by Zhao, and “Alborada del Gracioso,” performed by piano junior Lilli Theisen.

“While playing the pieces, I tried to imagine what it would be like in the environment the pieces portray and recreate that feeling,” Zhao said.

Students from the class filmed a short video trailer to tease the performance with Zhao hoping it would be “lighthearted and entertaining.” It was featured on DSOA Today, and can also be found on the @dsoapiano Instagram.

“(The video) was pretty fun to do,” Theisen said. “We just did whatever popped into our minds. It was a little crazy but funny to see the clips put together.”
