[BRIEF] Asian Cultural Society and Bollyfuse Present Bollywood Dancing Tutorial Event

%5BBRIEF%5D+Asian+Cultural+Society+and+Bollyfuse+Present+Bollywood+Dancing+Tutorial+Event

Asian Cultural Society and Bollyfuse hosted a collaborative event Nov. 2, teaching students Garba, an Indian folk dance from Gujarat, India. Bollyfuse co-presidents communications senior Sanjana Gupta, strings senior Raveena Cherry, and band senior Nihar Bhavsar led the tutorial, in celebration of the recent annual Hindu festival of Navaratri.

Gupta’s passion for the Bollywood genre inspired her to ask her mother to choreograph and teach her various forms of Indian dances including Indian classical bharatanatyam, Bollywood, and bhangra.

“Bollywood dancing is something that I do that makes me happy,” Gupta said. “To be honest, it is something that has brought me closer (to) my mom. Together we have grown an inseparable bond through this dance form. We can do it anywhere and at any time if the song is right. It really is something that I will cherish forever.”
