The National Honor Society hosted the second blood drive of the school year to help alleviate the impact of the nationwide blood shortage. Students who are 16 years old and older were allowed to contribute to this cause by signing up to donate one pint of blood and/or plasma.

“NHS chose to bring this blood drive to Dreyfoos because we want to expose both NHS members and the Dreyfoos community to the experience of donating blood,” strings senior and Blood Drive Coordinator Natalia Sánchez said. “When the One Blood staff was drawing my blood, I felt like I was making an impact because I was watching it all and thinking about how my blood would go on to help save someone’s life.”

156 students signed up for the drive. NHS proposed that the blood drive would “keep the DSOA magic alive by sharing the magical gift of life” to Principal Blake Bennett to earn approval for the event.
