The Save Our Musicians Foundation partnered with the School of the Arts Foundation to host a fundraising concert for Bak Middle School of the Arts and Dreyfoos Nov. 18 at Tiki 52. Students, teachers, and their families had the opportunity to attend the concert. “I would consider myself one of the biggest country (music) fans at Dreyfoos. I’m actually not even going to meet the man (Luke Bryan) and I am freaking out,” digital media senior Cynthia Mondragon said before the concert.

The boys basketball team played their senior-night game at home against Morningside Academy Jan. 24. Senior nights are organized by the coaches to honor the seniors’ last season on the team as a way of saying goodbye to their departing seniors: Mario Antich, Chris Samuel, and Sheevam Patel.

“(Senior night) gave me so much confidence because I had the best game of my life in front of all my friends and family during my biggest game of high school,” visual senior Mario Antich said. “I’m going to miss all the shared experiences with the team, (like) locker rooms after tough losses, after big wins, talking, having a fun time before and after practice, (and) all the jokes.”

Seniors on the team have played with the same people for multiple seasons, creating family-like bonds between the teammates.

“Senior night showed me how much we all love and care for each other, and the fact that we are all a family and not just friends,” Antich said. “It wouldn’t be the same unless we have our specific group of guys. I’m going to miss them so much because they are the people they are. It wouldn’t be the same with anyone else.”
