Oung (right) waits in between competition rounds with her opponents at the CBI speech and debate tournament on the last day of camp. Oung performed her piece in four preliminary rounds and ultimately made it to the final round, which consisted of only six speakers. Throughout the camp, as well as the tournament, Oung crafted both a new piece and several new friendships. “I met so many people at camp on the speech and debate circuit that I’m excited to see in the upcoming school year at tournaments,” Oung said. “Camp is such a good place to make long-lasting friendships with both my fellow debaters and mentors, especially since we made so many memories together in two weeks.”

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida was invaded by an armed former student on Feb.14th. The shooter, who is now in custody, took the lives of 17 students and staff members.
