Tennis Update

When the season started for the boys tennis team, most of the team was either recovering from injuries or getting back into form. However, four matches into the season, they are 3-1. Tennis coach and guidance counselor John Webb still believes the team has a lot of room for improvement.

“We’re a little bit behind,” Mr. Webb said. “We’ll pick it back up.”

Veteran players strings senior Reed Rabideau, communications senior Kevin Levine and digital media senior Alec Nguyen are joined by younger talent who are already making names for themselves on the tennis court.

“We weren’t really expecting to have a great team,” Levine said. “All of a sudden, two really good freshmen [band freshman] Ben Sullivan and [visual freshman] Mitchell del Mastro joined the team and now we have a really strong five.”

Mr. Webb wants the newer players to reach their full potential, and having experienced players on the team helps them develop at a faster pace.

“What we’re trying to do is make sure they are on their way up,” Mr. Webb said. “Having the players that have been here for three to four years help them out makes it a little bit easier.”

Levine expects that the team can only improve from where they are now.

“The team is looking good,” Levine said. “We should reach our full potential by the time districts come around.”
