  • Theatre students put on a flash mob performance of “Romeo and Juliet” on Friday, Oct.30 “The costumes were really cool and everything looked so real,” digital media sophomore Amelia Blair said. “They really brought everything to life, so I cant wait to see the set and the final product.”

Spectators in CityPlace stopped to watch as theatre students performed Scene 1: Act 1 and the iconic balcony scene of “Romeo and Juliet.”

“I didn’t really know what to expect, but I was absolutely blown away,” communications sophomore Dylan Pollack said. “When Romeo professed his love for Juliet, it actually gave me goosebumps. I can’t wait to watch the full show.”

The flash mob started off with the cast members parading through Cityplace, drawing attention to their show as they passed out flyers.

The cast put on a great performance, captivating the audience with choreographed sword fights, medieval costumes, and many famous lines from “Romeo and Juliet”, such as “It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.

“Everyone watching seemed really interested, it’s not everyday you see an intense sword fight in the middle of Cityplace,” digital media sophomore Megan Carter said. “You can tell it’s going to be an amazing show.”

Performing the first act of a play on opening night is a Dreyfoos tradition, and the cast members of “Romeo and Juliet” certainly didn’t disappoint.
