Vocal sophomore Sage Duke and vocal senior Christina Thompson perform a rendition of the song “Night and Day” at the jazz concert on Oct. 6. Ella Fitzgerald originally recorded the song, which was one of several jazz compositions performed.

Jazz Ensembles 1, 2, and 3 performed Oct. 6 at Fall Jazz Night, their first concert of the year. These ensembles, conducted by Director of Jazz Studies Christopher De León, included brass and rhythm sections along with accompanying vocalists.

“We’re a team, we’re supposed to be playing together,” band senior Alana Marques said.  “There’s a motive between all of us to get better and to play as good as we can, and be the JE1 (Jazz Ensemble 1) that everybody expects. I feel that goes the same for JE2 and JE3.”
