Guerrier was later named player of the game, as he made two free throws, spent 40 minutes in the game, and had a final point total of 13. The Jaguars beat the Gladiators 52-40 at the Nov. 30 game.

Strings sophomores Mia Hakkarainen, Andrew Zhu, and Jeffrey Bai sit in a semicircle as they practice for their small ensemble performance for this year’s annual Prism show. The group gathered in the band room for a quiet space to play. “It took a little bit for us to get it together,” Hakkarainen said. “We met every few weeks at Josetta’s (a pianist in the ensemble) house, and we just rehearsed and put our parts together slowly, and eventually, we were able to play it.”

Before the curtain closes for the finale, the philharmonic orchestra and entire vocal department end the matinee Prism performance with “When You Believe” from “The Prince of Egypt.” Conducted by band director Evan Rogovin, this was one of two mass pieces in the show and highlighted the cumulative talent and work of every musician.

Band junior David Galli plays the saxophone alongside other performers at Prism. Behind the curtain, stage crew members moved instruments and equipment into place for the next performance. Piano junior Jacques Coury was among the stage crew members working behind the scenes. “There’s really not a dull moment [at Prism],” Coury said. “We’re always doing something, and there’s always something we can be doing to make [the performance] run smoother.”
