Presidential candidates, cartoon characters, and television icons marched into the gym on Monday, Oct. 31 for Dreyfoos’ annual Fall Festival. During lunch at school, the Student Government Association (SGA) hosted the event. Students and teachers alike participated in a wide array of friendly competitions. For the first year Spirit Week points were awarded during Fall Festival.

Fall Festival included an assortment of events that involved participation from faculty and students. The events included: Balloon Pop, Donut on a String, Mummy Wrap, Pie Eating Contest, Bobbing for Apples Relay, Pumpkin Decorating, and a costume contest. This year’s winner of the costume contest was digital media senior Cydney Chiamardas, who dressed as a jumbo working camera that could take pictures.

Seniors won the Mummy Wrap, costume, and  pie-eating contests, juniors took the cake for the Balloon Pop, and Donut on a String, sophomores the Apple Relay, and freshmen the pumpkin decorating contest. The class of 2017 won overall and were able to put in some early points for Spirit Week.

“Fall festival was an event that required us to delve into the minutiae. We had to have a plan for how we were going to decorate the gym in a way that could seat as many students as possible and still look good,” communications senior and SGA president Jack Yan said. “The events were managed on a tight time frame where minute by minute we had a plan to execute events or clean ups and set ups.”

Ruby Rosenthal, Editor-In-Chief
Ruby Rosenthal is a third-year staffer and co-Editor-in-Chief of The Muse. She's obsessed with learning new things, whether it be through reading articles in her favorite publications or dropping everything at 7:30 to watch Jeopardy on weeknights. If she had ample free time, she'd probably be reading, but for now, her spare hours are spent studying for too many AP classes for her own good. She is unsure what the future holds, but she hopes to work in a field that gives her the opportunity to give people a voice whose voices usually go unheard. Rosenthal hopes to attend college up north, where there are four seasons a year.
