Students are no longer permitted to enter any buildings during lunch, except for the cafeteria and media center, unless they are under direct supervision (club meetings, office hours, etc.) by a faculty member.
This policy, put into effect by administration, takes effect Monday, Sept. 29, and will be enforced by faculty personnel stationed at every building door during lunch. Students will only be granted access to a building if they have a physical or digital pass from a teacher or club sponsor that states the purpose for their entry.
In addition, students are not permitted to enter any building, even with a signed pass, after 11:35 a.m. If a student enters a building before 11:35 a.m. and exits, they will not be allowed re-entry. All building doors except for the cafeteria and media center will remain closed and locked from 11:35 a.m. until the bell rings at 12:06 p.m.
“It feels like we’re being treated like little kids who can’t be trusted,” visual arts sophomore Aliyah Bassett said. “Some of us use one lunch period to do multiple things, like meeting with a teacher the first half and attending a club meeting the second half. Now that flexibility is just gone.”
