Students new to an all-arts school are invited to attend the inaugural Dreyfoos Compass, an introductory seminar during lunch Tuesday, Aug. 19.  Dreyfoos Compass will be hosted in the media center by the school counseling team. The event provides an opportunity to connect with upperclassmen, ask questions, and receive advice while eating pizza.

Upperclassmen volunteers who also came from non-arts schools will lead a panel educating the new students about balancing academics and arts, and giving tips on how arts schools run. New Digital Arts and Photography and Visual Arts counselor Shae Hammack and School counseling director Olga Middleton are co-heading the event. 

“We want, at the end of it, for them to feel more comfortable,” Ms. Hammack said. “And maybe come out with one person that they know that they didn’t know before they got here.”
