Teachers sit above a cold vat of water and tease students as they hurl balls at a target, hoping to hit the center and dunk the teachers. Across the field, students cheer for their friends and their classmates during the relay race and chain link games for Field Day.
This year’s Field Day included games such as the relay race, spike ball, and bean bag toss. Field Day coincided with Holiday Day, with freshmen dressed for the Fourth of July, sophomores dressed for St. Patrick’s Day, juniors dresses for Valentine’s Day, and seniors dressed for New Year’s Eve.

“My favorite part of Field Day is spending time with my friends, seeing everyone dressed up, and watching my classmates compete in the games against all the other grades,” visual sophomore Mia Rubio said.
Across the field from the games, students lined up behind the carnival-style dunk tank where they could pay $5 per three throws to dunk their teachers in the tank. Assistant principals William Clark and Drew Dawson, math teachers Craig Adams and Timothy Freeman, digital media teacher Nicolas Angulo, science dean Stephen Anand, and band director Evan Rogovin were the seven teachers who volunteered to be dunked.
“I’ll be there every time to do the dunk tank,” Mr. Clark said. “I get to do something that the kids get excited for to make them excited about school.”
Field Day concluded with the sophomores holding a leading score of 274 Spirit Week dress-up points. The juniors came in second with 210 points, the freshmen in third with 205 points, and the seniors in last with 199 points.
