On Feb. 8, Dreyfoos competed against several high schools in Palm Beach County at the SECME Olympiad. The theme of this year’s Olympiad was “Going Out on a STEM,” and Dreyfoos placed in all theme categories. The school finished fourth overall in the competition.
Visual senior Candace Roy won third place for her banner design. Roy’s banner featured a tree with different scientific innovations and theories represented on each branch, such as evolution.
Visual senior Jessica Roses placed second for her poster design. Her poster incorporated the theme by having a vine stem out from the earth and around other planets and in the solar system.
Communications senior Josie Russo won first place for her essay on the history of the space program. The essay will go to SECME Nationals, held at the University of Alabama, where it will represent Palm Beach County.
