Every year, Dreyfoos students are endlessly practicing new techniques in their major or cramming for A.P. classes, there is one week that some would say makes it all worth it: Spirit Week. As the time approaches, many questions are asked. “What will our theme be?” or even, “Who will be my twin on twin day?” but of all the excitement that comes with preparing for the special week, one thing everyone looks forward to is the clothes.
“I’ve had my outfits planned since my freshman year.” Alana Grnja, a communications junior said. “Savaging through parents and siblings stuff is always good.”
As first time participants in spirit week and not knowing what to expect, Grnjas freshman year was very difficult.
“Freshman year, I couldn’t find anything.” Grnja said. “I wanted to be crafty so I cut up my shirt but ended up cutting it down the middle, which was bad.”
One dilemma that is faced when trying make up the best outfit is where to get your clothes that will show your spirit but also not empty your pockets.
“I usually just go to thrift stores to find things,” communications sophomore Emma Sue Harris said “It’s cheap and I’m probably never going to wear it after spirit week.”
Theatre senior Sarah Hardwick waited until her senior year to dress up from head to toe in spirit week fashion.
“This year, now that I’m a senior, my outfits will be completely decked out and planned to the last accessory,” Hardwick said. “Senior year is a big deal.”
