Memorial Day may be celebrated as an extra day to study for upcoming exams or as a glimpse of the upcoming summer, but there is so much more to it than cook outs and pool parties. Memorial Day is a day for us to remember all of those who fought, and still are fighting, for us and our country. Today make sure to thank those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. One doesn’t have to look too far to find individuals who gave up so much, along with their families, to allow us to live the way we do. At Dreyfoos communications teacher Stephen Moore and police aid Louis Valdes, are both veterans who were directly affected by war. Guidance counselor Laura Tomasello and communications teacher Christine Tieche both have fathers who are veterans. Digital media teacher Melissa Glosmanova’s mother is also veteran. Glosmanova’s mother is currently a veteran services officer for Palm Beach County. All of these individuals put their lives at risk and gave up a part of them for each and every one of us, even without knowing us. so The least we can do on this Memorial Day is make sure to take a minute in between all of the pool parties and barbecues to think of the veterans at Dreyfoos and their families along with all the individuals who are serving or have served the United States.
Happy Memorial Day.
