As part of their first social event, members of Dreyfoos’ National Honor Society (NHS) ran across campus frantically, competing in a scavenger hunt for the ultimate reward, two $10 Starbucks gift card. On Nov. 10, NHS held its first of many planned social events.
“The original purpose of any NHS social is a fun and relaxing time for the NHS members to relax from school work,” said dance senior Olivia Izenwasser, the NHS Socials and Communications co-coordinator. “They bring a sense of community and togetherness to the members. Rather than it being just something everyone is a part of because they qualified but also to make it into a family.”
The scavenger featured 25 clues that corresponded to 25 locations around campus. Teams of three had to decipher each clue to discover the location and then take a selfie at each location. Two teams received awards, the team that deciphered the most clues in the shortest amount of time, and the team that took the best selfie.
“I liked running around school with my friends and trying to figure out weird clues,” piano junior Caroline Miller said. “The [picture] that we planned out the picture the most was taking the picture with the soccer field goal. We were trying to think of a funny picture to take and we ended up taking a picture of our faces in the net.”
There will be more NHS socials held throughout the year for all NHS members. The next one will be at the next general meeting for NHS during lunch. It will be a holiday party where members can eat lunch with each other.
